ABOUT PICOSI
PICOSI stands for Philippine Independence Committee of Staten Island. During the winter of 2022, a gathering of Filipinos pondered the notion of commemorating their cultural heritage. In Staten Island, a myriad of Filipino groups, spanning from religious congregations to sports clubs, thrive. From this aspiration, PICOSI emerged, driven by the vision to orchestrate an occasion where these groups could collectively revel in their culture. On June 11, 2023, PICOSI inaugurated the inaugural Philippine Independence Day festivity on Staten Island, an event met with resounding success and widespread community endorsement. Consequently, the organizers resolved to establish it as an annual affair every June.
Music, cuisine, and spiritual reverence are integral facets of the Filipino-American identity. Embrace and partake in the vibrant tapestry of Filipino culture on Staten Island. Join PICOSI on Saturday, June 8, 2024, for a day filled with festivities!
